'Point B' = must watch documentary

Postby Max on Sat Apr 04, 2009 10:19 pm

"What is Parkour's Point B?"

A brilliant and accessible documentary has been released online. 'Point B' is well made and gives an overview of parkour covering areas such as the history, the philosophy and mind-set, the concept of flow, and also the controversies of competition, showmanship, commercialization and the media. In my opinion a must watch documentary for experienced traceurs, beginning traceurs, and anyone even interested in parkour! Get your mum to watch it and have a go as well :P

Sweet doco, that 65yr old 'mom' kicks ass!

Well worth a watch aye, what better thing to do at this time of night? Except training or course ... but everyone needs their recovery time ;)

That guy's nephew is going to give Atz's a run for his money, and his Mum puts us all to shame. Sadly it's taking forever to stream, so I'll have to watch the rest tomorrow. G'night all.

Download program called "Orbit" when installed right click the blue ball in bottom right corner and choose "grab++" then navigate to doco page. This will find things embedded in pages so you can download em :)

Yeah I was having problems as well, but Orbit worked well, only took 19 min to download it again after the first one failed.

Really great doco..
As invercargill traceur said; touched on some major points and also brought up some new ones to get us thinking..
Would definitely as Yamakasi were saying, love to see parkour and freerunning become one movement again..we'll see what happens there :P
Loved it :)

Very interesting doco. I liked how they represented a wider range of views than just "no competition" or "no commercialisation" but I still disagree with the competition aspect and excessive commercialisation that many seem to think is inevitable.

I have a feeling I wouldn't get on too well with some of those Americans.

I also wonder if, in their quest for making a living doing what they love, many have lost or forgotten the altruistic aspect of parkour.

I'm pretty sure they stuffed up with the description of "flow" too. Many of the "flowing" clips shown were not what I would describe as good examples. I would describe it as a feeling of mastery of movement that is linked together in an efficient and smooth manner. This is different from getting "in the zone" which was what they seemed to be describing. I could be wrong on this though. Some concepts don't translate well into other cultures and parkour is not easily compared to extreme sports.
If I seem superhuman I have been misunderstood...
